Two Boston colleges instate weekly coronavirus testing mandates, even for vaccinated students

Two Boston colleges have instated weekly coronavirus testing mandates, even for their vaccinated students.

Reported by Higher Ed Dive, both Northeastern and Boston University are requiring weekly testing for their on-campus students and employees. Above and beyond the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations, this weekly testing mandate also includes their fully vaccinated students and employees.

The takeaway? While breakthrough COVID cases in vaccinated individuals are absolutely occurring in high numbers, the risk-reward for this protocol will likely be questioned. Although, the data that comes from this testing mandate may prove incredibly helpful for better understanding the quantitative risk of asymptomatic infection.
