What does the future higher ed campus look like?
Reported by Education Dive, The University of Maryland is redesigning its physical spaces away from the traditional lecture style classroom, in favor of rooms “in the round” that promote more student collaboration.
Psychologically, these classroom layouts set up the expectation that the student will be an active participant in the course, and will need to come prepared to effectively serve that role.
The takeaway? The more we learn about best practice pedagogy, how do we make sure we are not only better designing our course structure, but our physical spaces themselves to facilitate this elevated learning?
