Will online education prove to be the rural attainment equalizer?

Reported by Inside Higher Ed, many areas within rural America are known as “education deserts”. And state systems like the University of North Carolina are now including goals within their strategic plans of increasing rural degree attainment by 20%.

One obvious answer to the geographic barriers in the way is online education.

The takeaway? Many of these rural students can’t leave their homes, towns, and jobs to attend. So really upping the expectations we have for online education quality become more essential than ever before. From a delivery standpoint. From a support standpoint. And from a personalization standpoint. We need to get online education right.
