Where’s this recession’s higher ed bump?

Reported by Inside Higher Ed, more than 1/3 of prospective college students are reconsidering higher education. Is that true for the market’s incumbent workforce as well?

Because in past recessions, higher ed typically sees enrollment growth from adults in the workforce looking to upskill and become more marketable. But there may be increased doubt right now as to how automatically a new credential will translate into a better job.

The takeaway? We need to make sure higher education is accessible, affordable, and has a direct translation to better job opportunities. If we can’t convincingly tell that story, we don’t have a convincing story to tell right now.

May you continue to fight the good enrollment growth fight at your institution today, and we’ll see you again tomorrow.
