Where is skills-based hiring on the employer adoption curve?

Where is skills-based hiring on the employer adoption curve?

Reported by Inside Higher Ed, a recent report from 1EdTech Foundation shows the results from a survey of 750 HR leaders across the country. Highlights include that 36% of these companies are either relaxing or eliminating college degree requirements altogether. All while 50% of those same HR leaders claim to know little or nothing about digital badging as credential alternatives.

The takeaway? The value perception of a higher ed credential is indeed in question. And yet, a clear replacement hasn’t yet arisen. Which means the challenge we have in higher ed is a storytelling one. And that’s not meant to minimize the challenge, but to realize the importance of perception in helping to solve the talent challenges for our local employers, and telling that story well to students similarly questioning whether or not their educational path is indeed highly corollary to their career path.
