We’re Bringing in More Talent Straight from the Front Lines of Academia

Decision to EnrollThe energy around here continues as we add new team members to the Helix Education family. We are excited to be bringing in institutional talent – their level of insight into online programs, their experience on the front lines, and their keen understanding of institutional operations are a tremendous asset to both our company and our clients.  One of the many new faces around here is Tom Caswell.

We are thrilled to have Tom join our team as Director of Instructional Design. Tom’s 15 years of experience span academia, most recently serving as Director of Instructional Design at Western Governors University where he developed over 120 courses and shared competency-based models with numerous community colleges through a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation grant.

Tom also led the Open Course Library in building 81 open courses for the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC). He has consulted for MIT, Creative Commons, the OpenCourseWare Consortium, and the Open University of Catalonia in Barcelona. He also developed eduCommons, an OpenCourseWare platform funded by the Hewlett Foundation at Utah State University. Additionally, he’s been in the front of the classroom teaching French and Computer Science in Utah and California high schools.

Welcome, Tom!
