Welcome to my blog series, Top 10 Emerging Media Trends. The Datamark Media team and I regularly develop a Top 10 list of practices and findings in the education market to share with our industry peers.

Media Trend #10: Education traffic is down sharply and prospects spend less time researching on portal sites.

Education traffic volume is down on average 45% over the last 18 months as the number of people looking to further their education has declined, Education sites not showing the steep volume decline rely heavily on engaging and eye catching Display demand generation tactics. We also see a growing trend in people spending less time researching on education sites. The most popular education sites show an approximate 30% decline in the time visitors are spending on the site and bounce rate (% of visitors who view one page and then leave the site) is on the rise as well over the 18 month period.

Check back tomorrow for #9 in our countdown of the Top 10 Emerging Media Trends.
