It’s Time for Higher Ed to Take Transfer Students More Seriously

Is it time for higher ed to take transfer students more seriously?

Reported by The New York Times, higher ed is taking in more transfer students than ever before, with a full 62% of the University of Central Florida’s last incoming class made up by transfer students.

With demographic shifts causing higher ed to look more at non-traditional students to fill their classrooms, our transfer efforts, service and focus need to change.

The takeaway? How do we make sure our institutions are appropriately staffed to better service transfer students, assess transfer credits, create academic plans, and coach these students successfully through the transition process?
