Should colleges send students home for winter break?

Many colleges were criticized for bringing their students back to campus during a pandemic. Should they also be criticized if they send them home for winter break?

Reported by Education Dive, while many outbreaks this fall have been shown to square centrally in college towns, a new fear has become what happens when we send all these students back to their original hometowns for break? Some institutions like University of Michigan are planning on testing students twice before their planned exit with a built-in “if-needed” quarantine time in between.

The takeaway? Keeping our students and campus safe has been a high priority. Ensuring your students do the same for their hometowns may need to become more top of mind as well.
