Remote faculty in online education

Online programs open up not only broader recruitment possibilities, but remote faculty opportunities as well.

Reported by Inside Higher Ed, more and more institutions are experimenting with remote faculty for their online programs – faculty who work full-time from home, and potentially don’t even live in the same state as their campus.

And now institutions are weighing the same questions many corporate offices are contemplating – how “remote” of a college do we want to be? Will it be hard for our faculty to be a critical part of the greater culture? Or is getting to secure world-class talent regardless of their proximity to your campus, and with the real estate savings as well, well worth it?

The takeaway? Let us follow the greater trends re: the future of remote work, because these are conversations we need to start having on our campuses as well.

May you continue to fight the good enrollment growth fight at your institution today, and we’ll see you again tomorrow.
