Online Education is Still a Hyper-Local Play

More than 75% of online students still choose to enroll at an institution within 100 miles of their home.

Reported by EdSurge, despite how widely available online degrees now are, students are still choosing familiar brands close to their backyard.

The takeaway? Just because your online students “can” come from anywhere, doesn’t mean they “will” come from everywhere. Geographic expansion in areas where your institution currently has low brand awareness and affinity requires thoughtful strategy, and creative brand positioning to separate you from the pack.

May you continue to fight the good enrollment growth fight at your institution today, and we’ll see you again tomorrow.
