Is COVID increasing the popularity of college consortiums?

Reported by Education Dive, with colleges having been forced to migrate so quickly to online instruction, many colleges found consortium partnerships to be their best route.

More than 70 institutions have joined the Council of Independent Colleges’ Online Course Sharing Consortium since the pandemic began. For many of these institutions, sharing their revenue dollars with a partner institution with an existing high-quality online offering is a better financial option than creating the online course from scratch themselves.

The takeaway? These consortium relationships have always made a whole lot of sense. Letting institutions focus on the programs and courses they teach best. Will COVID help push these relationships into a whole new permanent level of popularity?
