If it seems like Helix Education is everywhere these days, that’s because we are. We are excited to announce that we have been selected to speak again on competency-based education (CBE), this time at the ACICS Annual Conference.
We are teaming up with Dustin Hilt, who serves as Program Analyst at Simmons College and is leading the school’s exploration into CBE, to present the session “Five Things You Should Know About Competency-Based Education.”
Especially important to the ACICS attendees is the use of data to support CBE. As CBE focuses more on performance than seat time, institutions and accreditors need to think about the ways in which course credit is awarded to students. Data and outcomes are critical pieces of the accreditation process, and we are eager to discuss with attendees how a CBE model can support meaningful learning experiences and successful outcomes.
Our session, which takes place on Wednesday, November 5th at 1:30 p.m., will cover five key considerations when implementing a CBE program, including the roles of instructional methods, integration strategies, instructional design, course creation, and student support.
ACICS, which accredits more than 900 institutions in the United States in worldwide, assembles a great group of educational innovators. We are excited to be part of the line up, and grateful for the opportunity to communicate and collaborate with members on the future of higher education.
We hope to see you in New Orleans!
