Student demographics in the U.S. are changing rapidly – but faculty demographics haven’t.
Reported by The Chronicle of Higher Education, in 2016, more than 43% of college students were members of racial and ethnic minority groups, up 6 points from 2010.
Yet, higher ed faculty are still nearly 78% white.
The takeaway? Do we need to start thinking about how to actively move toward a more representative workforce in higher ed? One that more closely represents both the world we’re living in, and the students we’re teaching?
