Do Your Development Team Demographics Match Your Future Donors?

Do your development team demographics match your future donors?

Reported by Inside Higher Ed, many colleges are rethinking how they staff their development offices to meet the fundraising needs of an increasingly diverse alumni and donor base.

With only 11% of front-line fund raisers being persons of colors, according to the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and with 20% of senior fund-raisers planning to retire in the next four years, many alumni offices believe that a growing number of non-white male philanthropists will want to see diversity in the campuses they gift to.

The takeaway? How do we make sure we’re hiring in our development offices for the future – a development team that more closely represents the world we’re living in, and the donors we’re looking to build relationships with?
