Is a degree of embedded certifications the next step for some of our tech-centric degree programs?

Reported by Education Dive, with more institutions attempting to prove the market value of their degree programs, many are following the lead of community colleges, and incorporating credentials and market-friendly certifications directly within their degree programs, including Broward College, whose students earned 1,350 certifications last year alone.

The takeaway? Higher ed must hold a fine line between constantly iterating and evolving our degree programs to be more comprehensive and market-friendly, and truly believing in our comprehensive liberal arts mission. We need to tell a better story about how these certifications may help open the door to your first job more quickly, but that your degree is what will help you succeed there, and open every door after.
