25 Illinois Colleges are Working Together to Solve Graduation Rate Disparity

Reported by EducationDive, a 2017 National Student Clearinghouse Research Center report showed that white students in Illinois have a 6-year graduation rate of 66%, compared to 36% of black students, and 48% of Latino students.

In response, 25 public and private institutions in Illinois launched the Illinois Equity in Attainment Initiative designed to eliminate racial and socioeconomic achievement gaps, including offering financial aid packages specifically designed for low-income students, and clear degree paths to help students graduate on time.

The takeaway? With economic concerns being one of the most critical reasons for drop-outs, how do we do a better job coaching our students toward an on-time finish?
